I would never use wood chips like that as mulch. They literally hold on to so much moisture. That’s not a good mulch at all.
My entire yard is blighted. Lawn and garden. All of our yards are dying. Flowers, trees, shrubs, bulbs. I'm watching my yard melt.
I’ve stopped trimming the suckers and my yields are off the charts.
Depending on where you live you might not be able to string them and trim all the leaves off. Sun scald on tomatoes will ruin your crop.
i watch a ton of these things...this one is good...along with the rusted garden dude...this gets to the point...thank you for your efforts..indeed..happy growing...the harvest is the best time of year...🍅
I start all my seeds in the red cups or styrofoam cups before transplanting but I never thought of growing lettuce this way. Brilliant!!! Do you put the cups near a window or grow light or outside?? Great video
Compost and soil are quite different
Good for all winter 🥶?
Did good job
Thoughts on Daconil?
Daconil is classified as a class 2B carcinogen, i.e. 'possible' carcinogen. Other class 2B carcinogens include kimchi and other fermented Oriental-style vegetables, drinking excessively hot drinks regularly, and working night shift. (really) Source: Wikipedia, International Agency for Research on Cancer
I have one but I don’t want to use it yet until I can upgrade it. With more experience and Space
Since sphagnum moss has a pH of 3.0-4.0 should we use Dolomite Lime to adjust pH?
I've lived off gardens my whole life and never bought potting soil in a bag. no vermiculite, no perlite. We use black loam and inchlage and stuff goes crazy.. Most of the time, we used regular dirt existing on site and just plow and disk then plant. I am very skeptical about the sustainability of vermiculite and perlite. the inchlage does all that. cow manure, pig manure,... and swallow poop, give us all the fertilizer we need and more. I used too heavy a mixture of swallow poop and it burned my bean crop. Mix the right stuff, and nobody should have to go to any amazon or anything,....Long term planning is the key. Work with nature and what you need will show up. be observant,.
Not if you live where windy
Omg 11.50 for 3.8 peat moss!! I see this video was from 4yrs ago. I had to pay twice that just the other day.
Nice hot-box for close friends
I have a much bigger one and what I did was dig a trench a few inches bigger than the frame on both sides and then removed all dirt in the middle too as it was grass and weeds. I then proceeded to take 8 bags of soil (garden and top) and laid a brand new bed inside a few inches up, completely burying the frame and the tarp. I also took all of that old dirt and used it to fill the moat outside and all around so that baby is going NOWHERE. Greenhouse is somewhere between Chicago and Milwaukee so we get plenty of wind.
The sun has eaten mine up....
Just discovered your channel. Can’t wait to try the solo cup lettuce! Thanks!!
It's super simple to make your own. I am tired of the prices at the store. I don't waste the fertilizer in the mix because a lot of that mix as the soil will go to the bottom when planting wasting the fertilizer. I put it where I want it when I plant.
I just screened all my pots onto a tarp inthe driveway and mixed in the fertilizer and perlite. Forgot about the compost though. We'll see how they grow this year.
I believe the yuca is used at a wetting agent because peat moss is hydrophobic.
A cement mixer works well for mixing.

Have some pride and Cut your zip ties.. that just Lazy and Embarrassing
How many degrees warmer does it get inside, such as if it is 50 degrees out, how much warmer is it inside?
You've sold me on this. I have a similar one that is not walk-in that I've finally outgrown, but is still in good shape after 3 moves and two full winters on a patio. I've had it for four years. But I only have enough room for 16 flats of seedlings and since I over-plant, that's not enough! I also plan to take good care of mine. I think many poor reviewers did not treat theirs well. A great tip I saw was to use a tarp to create a "floor" inside, creating a box out of it and securing it to the four corners' legs with zip ties or pipe clamps, then securing the outer plastic to the tarp floor. As an added bonus, it's extra protection against pests getting inside and nibbling. I'll have to check out your other videos to see if you've upgraded.
80% of these will be decaying microplastic within 2 years, and 100% of them will be, at best, in a landfill in 5 years.
Does this work for growing weed
😃🎉 Excellent I subscribed to your channel 🙏
Wonder if rebar would work to anchor down?
New subscriber. Enjoyed this - straight to the point, rare with most videos
The zip ties are a great idea.
Bro!!!! Thanks!!!
I only need a few cubic feet for my tomatoes to go outside before it warms up, currently they are growing on my nightstand but soon they will all need to be put into pots that would takeup all my space
Good info! However, all materials can be purchased at Home Depot for Much Less than Amazon! Ex 3 cf of peat 20.00 vs 80.00
These are so cool! ...Once you figure out how to put them together!😅
I’ve been making my own mix since I was 13. Third ratios
I wonder if this would be a good cannabis soil
If you're growing any type of green, whether it's cabbage, lettuce, collard green, broccoli etc. this will save you a lot of time and suffering. Not only do they grow better in shade, but not having to deal with cabbage worms and beetles trying to destroy your crops all spring/summer is a big deal. This will actually save you money in the long run because you're not going to have to worry about wasting money on neem oil and monterey B.T., which has actually destroyed my crops in the past worse than the bugs did. So yeah. I'm not a salesman for this product. I don't even use one, but I already know what a huge deal it is to be able to screen bugs out if you're growing greens.
Very helpful video for a beginner gardener like myself
I had one. The plants inside wlgot really leggy and it was clear it didn't allow enough light in.
This is the same one i bought this year to keep in my sun room to start veggies and flowers. i really like it and don't have to worry about it blowing away in there. Mine was missing some of the connection parts and i had a weird amount of the pipes left over even if i had the missing joint parts. but it had enough of the right parts it went together fine. it stays around 67-79 degrees in there according to my little thermomotor and humidity gage i zip tied to one of the pipes. its worked great so far, i was able to hang five 2ft grow lights from the top to go around the top shelfs and so far and its holding up great.
Stop the ol talk....u bought everything.... didn't make anything.
I got 2 cu ft of Miracle Gro moisture control potting mix in $8 at costco, I wanted to make it my own this year but it seems peat moss is more expensive than gold in 2024.
Thanks for the amazing viedo, just one question with Costo selling 50 dry quartz ( ~2 cu ft.) of Miracle Gro Organic Choice Potting Mix in just ~$11 is it still worth going through this. 2 Cu ft of Peat moss is $24 + Perlite $24 + cow manuare $11 . Please help as I am confused which path should I go ?
Haha I like the part where you said “except for Yucca, I have no idea what yucca is to be honest” , you literally read my mind! Lol
Also make sure your compost is complete. If it smells like poop than don’t use it yet. It should be fully composted and have no smell, like soil smells and that’s safe to use. If it smells than let it sit longer to fully compost and decompose or whatever it’s called.
Fuck peat moss
If a cat jumps on it it will collapse it’s not cat proof Iv had to collapse by a cats
no longer worth it... peat moss doubled its price in 2023
No kidding!
